FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What metadata does the analyzer detect?
The analyzer reads EXIF (camera model, settings, date, GPS), XMP (editing software, creator info), IPTC (captions, keywords), C2PA content credentials (JUMBF boxes in JPEG, caBX/caMs/caSt in PNG), PNG text chunks, and AI generation signatures from DALL-E, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Adobe Firefly, Flux, ComfyUI, and 47+ other tools.
Does the analyzer upload my image?
No. All analysis runs entirely in your browser. Your file is never sent to any server. StripShot has zero access to your images.
What is C2PA and why is it important?
C2PA embeds cryptographically signed Content Credentials into images. Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn read these to automatically add 'Made with AI' labels. The analyzer detects JUMBF boxes in JPEG files and caBX/caMs/caSt chunks in PNG files.
Can it detect if an image is AI-generated?
Yes, it scans for 53+ AI tool signatures in metadata. It detects DALL-E, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, Firefly, Flux, ComfyUI, Leonardo AI, and more. Note: it cannot detect AI generation purely from visual patterns, only from embedded metadata.
What file formats are supported?
JPEG, PNG, and WebP. Each format has its own parser. JPEG reads APP markers. PNG reads chunk types including tEXt, iTXt, zTXt, eXIf, and C2PA chunks. WebP scans for EXIF, XMP, and C2PA data.
How do I remove the metadata the analyzer finds?
Use the StripShot metadata remover. It removes all EXIF, XMP, IPTC, C2PA, and AI signatures at the binary level. Zero quality loss. Your image is never re-encoded.
